The Jaguar Journal is Janney’s student newspaper — the only student paper at the elementary school level in the District of Columbia. Staffed by 4th- and 5th-grade students, the Jaguar Journal was started in 2010. In January 2012, the paper expanded to regular publication on newsprint, with 800 copies distributed throughout the Janney community. The Journal is overseen and edited by Janney teachers.
Student staff on the newspaper meet once a week at lunchtime to discuss and work on their assignments, and put in many hours writing, editing, and taking photographs on their own time. Joining the Journal is a yearlong commitment and a wonderful opportunity for budding writers to develop their skills and experience.
Students can sign up for the Journal in September during registration for the first session of lunchtime clubs. You can write to the Jaguar Journal at email@example.com.
