Girls on the Run is an after school class offered to girls in grades 3-5. This nationwide program teaches girls about running, but also about health, fitness, body image, self esteem, and community service. It is a 12-week character building program of experiential learning through running. The program culminates each season in a non-competitive 5K race event which gives the girls a chance to shine and an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.
As of school year 2019-2020, there will be one season of Girls on the Run in the Spring. Practices will be held at Janney on Tuesdays, 7:30-8:30 AM and Thursdays, 3:30-4:45 PM. Participants must be able to attend both practice times on a regular basis in order to receive the full benefit of the program.
The Janney team is led by Coach Liz (Mrs. DiCrosta). Limited space is available, and priority will be given to new participants.
